Backpack Snackers Dog Treats are an easily kept dog treat. These crunchy dog treats have a good flavor dogs love. Once dried out they are more like a fun fresh cracker for your dog. The chicken and liver flavoring is what does the trick. Easy to make dog food snacks that make dog treats a special occasion. Change the chicken broth for beef for another dog treat flavor.
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 cup rye flour
1 egg beaten
1 cup oats
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup cornmeal
1 3/4 cups chicken broth
1/4 cup liver powder from your local health food store.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Mix all the dry ingredients. Add the egg, oil, and chicken broth. Mix the dough while adding enough flour to make a dough that can be rolled. On a floured surface roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into squares. Prick with a fork. Bake for 1 hour 50 minutes. Watch to make sure these dog treats don't burn. Turn the oven off and let sit in oven overnight to harden. Stuff these tasty dog treats in a plastic bag and take with you on the go.
