How often should I bathe my puppy?

I have a question: how often should I bathe my puppy? I give my new pup Rocko a bath once every two weeks. Should I bathe him sooner than this or would it be bad for his skin?

Shouldn't you bathe your dog at least once a week? Puppies get into a lot of trouble and can get that strong doggy smell. I'm not a dog skin care expert, but I'd say bathe him as often and as regularly as needed to keep him from stinking and tracking dirt in the house and spreading his smell over all the furniture. But I guess it just depend on what kind of breed you have.

The right shampoo makes a big difference when bathing puppies or dogs. They have good shampoo on this site that is mild and moisturizing. It shouldn't be a big concern as to how often you give baths if you use the right stuff.

The milder the better. Dogs need moisture on their skin to keep away rashes and irritation. Get a shampoo made for pets.

The smell test for sure will let you know when to wash the dog. There are a lot of warnings about over bathing your dog because it takes the natural oils out of their skin. A good shampoo and some common sense should be enough to do it right.

It depends on the kind of stuff you use to bath your pet. For example, if it's just a 'cosmetic' bath, you can do it weekly.

But if you're also using a 'strong' chemical to clean your pet, you should do it no sooner than once per month.
