Cats Jealous of New Baby

We have a newborn, two months old, and our cat of five years acts very weird around him. Is the cat jealous or protective of her territory? I love my cat, but I'm afraid to leave the baby and the cat in the same room together? What should I do? Is there any training to get the cat to warm up to having a new baby around?
